HRT Balance is a synergistic blend of ingredients designed to help support premenstrual health and wellbeing.

This formula helps support healthy estrogen metabolism in women.

Calcium D-glucarate

Calcium D-glucarate is a supplement made by combining calciumand d-glucaric acid. Glucaric acid is a naturally occurring substance produced by our body in small amounts that supports the body’sability to detoxify hormones, environmental toxins and metabolic waste. While you make a small amount of glucaric acid, you also consume it in your diet. Glucaric acid is found in the highest amount in apples, oranges and cruciferous vegetables (think broccoli, cau-liflower and cabbage). In dietary supplements, calcium and glucaric acid are combined to stabilize the glucaric acid in supplement form. Once calcium D-glucarate enters your stomach, it is metabolized to calcium and glucaric acid. Glucaric acid is the active ingredient in HRT Balance, which means it is the ingredient providing the most benefit for your hormones. Excess estrogen and xenoestrogens are removed from the body by first being processed by the liver and packaged up via glucuronidation (phase II liver detoxification). After phase II liver detoxification, it leaves the body through the bowels and kidneys. It is during phase II detoxification that estrogen is bound to another molecule to make it less toxic to the body and prevent it from going back into circulation as it is transported for removal. As estrogen makes its way through the bowels, it can become unbound by beta-glucuronidase, which frees it to be reabsorbed by the body. Imbalances in gut flora can lead to higher levels of beta-glucuronidase and create problems in estrogen elimination. The result can be higher circulating levels of estrogen in the body, leading to a state referred to as estrogen dominance. Oral calcium D-glucarate supplementation has been shown to support the body’s ability to detoxify metabolic waste, hormones and environ-mental toxins. It does this by supporting glucuronidation (phase II liver detoxification) and inhibiting beta-glucuronidase, which facilitates the secretion of potentially harmful compounds and hormones.*

Chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus)

Chasteberry may help support the body in maintaining healthy levels of the hormone prolactin.* Healthy prolactin levels allow the reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone to rebalance. Chasteberry interacts favorably with the pituitary gland and may help support the body’s ability to regulate the production of luteinizing and follicle hormones, allowing the body to achieve hormonal equilibrium.* In a recent study, 93% of women who took chasteberry supplements over three con- secutive months reported a significant improvement in pelvic discomfort, irritability, premenstrual acne and food cravings.

DIM (diindolylmethane)

DIM is short for diindolylmethane, a metabolite of indole-3-carbinol. DIM is a compound that can only be made from cruciferous vegetables. DIM supports the body in producing more favorable estrogen metabolites, specifically 2-hydroxy estrogens (2OH).* DIM works at the phase I detoxification level to support the liver’s ability to make the most favorable metabolite, 2OHE1, and mitigate the excess production of potentially harmful ones like 4OHE1 and 16OHE1. Excess estrogen can stimulate tissues to grow, which includes the endometrium. When the endometrial lining is overstimulated, it can result in premenstrual discomfort.*

I3C (Indole-3-carbinol)

Indole-3-carbinol, sometimes referred to as I3C, is produced by the breakdown of the glucosinolate glucobrassicin, which can be found at relatively high levels in cruciferous vegetables. I3C may help support the body’s temperance of estrogen signals by competing for binding sites and inhibiting the activity of estrogen receptors.* A study published in the Journal of Nutrition unveiled evidence that I3C supports healthy cellular function related to estrogen metabolism.*
